China on a war footing: Xi’s underground cities and new nuclear arsenal point to total war with US
The Chinese leadership is rapidly transforming the country into an impregnable fortress: building underground shelters, hiding factories in mountains, and expanding its nuclear arsenal.

China has unleashed a mobilization campaign on an unprecedented scale, drawing critical lessons from Iran's war against the US and Israel. The systematic nature of these preparations is comparable to the USSR’s buildup for World War II. Indeed, the Chinese leadership is rapidly transforming the country into an impregnable fortress: building underground shelters, hiding factories in mountains, and expanding its nuclear arsenal. They are preparing to survive a nuclear apocalypse, but what about Russia? In China, preparations for the "end of the world" are in full swing. While official data is non-existent, a series of indirect indicators make it clear that the Red Dragon intends to emerge victorious in the battle for the future. Experts point to several key Beijing programs that have been accelerating since approximately 2022.

Strategic depth in the Chinese hinterland

Let us begin with the fact that the Chinese are moving key industrial facilities deeper into the interior, creating a form of "strategic depth." Xi Jinping personally coined this term during his inspection tour of Sichuan Province in July 2023. The program is not limited to shifting state power away from the proposed line of contact. Xi has set a more ambitious goal: to shift all key supply chains from a loose peacetime status to total mobilization at the touch of a button.1_1551.JPG

Xi’s directive for "strategic reserves"

Essentially, Sichuan and the adjacent Chongqing municipality have been tasked with forming a national strategic reserve, accumulating resources and production capacity. Xi Jinping also used this term to refer to the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region during his inspection tour of the area in December 2023, emphasizing its role in supporting the development of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao coastline, writes Russian political scientist Vasily Kashin in his scientific article.

Massive reserves of gold and food

The strategic depth program also includes massive stockpiles of everything from seeds and canned meat to coal and rare earths. Oil alone is held in storage at approximately 1.8 billion barrels. Gold vaults are also being replenished at a dizzying pace. Everyone in the world understands perfectly well that in the event of a major war, "His Majesty the Dollar" will become a meaningless collection of aces and zeros in virtual accounts. After the first nuclear strikes, they will vanish without the possibility of recovery from the cache.2_1125.jpg

Buying gold in record quantities

But physical gold cannot be destroyed with a simple press of the delete key. This is why the People’s Bank of China has been buying record quantities of the precious metal since the beginning of last year. It consistently reports the purchase of about 1-2 tons of bullion per month. However, financial experts, analyzing import data through Hong Kong, Shanghai, and the London over-the-counter market, argue that the actual Chinese appetite is ten times greater.3_643.JPG

Beijing learns from Ukraine

Another sign of preparation for Armageddon is the ambitious program to improve civil defense. In fact, Beijing is closely studying the experience of Ukraine, the behavior of local administrations and the population during missile attacks, as well as Russia's logistics and warehouses in the Nezalezhnaya. Essentially, China is currently constructing an entire network of underground cities where, in the event of a nuclear war, part of the population, the government, and China's nuclear arsenal will find refuge.

Xi’s 5,000-kilometer underground empire

This construction network extends up to five thousand kilometers. Most of the underground structures are buried deep beneath granite rocks, acting as a shell capable of withstanding multiple strikes from US ICBMs. Last year, China’s state television channel, China Central Television, lifted the veil of mystery and revealed China’s underground... Great Wall. Combined with a comprehensive underground survival system, it is a five-star luxury bunker for the missile forces. This is not just a slogan—it is the foundation of the country's strategic deterrence strategy, according to the report. According to Vasily Kashin, what is happening in China is somewhat reminiscent of the intense preparations of the USSR for World War II.4_389.JPG

China’s 3 strategic steps indicating... a Great War

It should be noted here that the buildup of military potential generally yields benefits even in domestic politics. This is because Chinese society enjoys witnessing the launch of a nuclear-powered missile carrier or the unveiling of a new missile.

Mobilization preparations, however, are an entirely different matter. They usually cause concern, in some cases even panic; it is impossible to completely hide special measures, and when their implementation enters its active phase, people become visibly nervous. Thus, the people of China could not help but notice that:

• All cultural and public institutions are built with the capacity to be quickly converted into hospitals, temporary housing centers, and warehouses.

• The country is adopting new "mobilization laws" (for energy – 2025, for mineral resources – 2025).

• The country is adjusting its legislation to handle potential mass casualties—new versions of documents such as "Regulations on the Eternity of the Memory of Fallen Heroes" and "Measures for Recognizing Persons as Fallen Heroes."

Underground "Walls" are not enough – The military prepares for the Conflict of the Century

Add to this the severe purges within the military. Only recently, a military conspiracy against Xi, hatched by one of his associates, the "Red Prince" Zhang Youxia, was thwarted in the act. He and nine other generals were arrested. 6_43.png

Opposition Chinese media (most of them linked to Britain and Taiwan) claim that military leaders led by Zhang Youxia wanted to arrest Xi Jinping on January 18, but that the Communist Party’s secret police prevented it. Thus, mobilization policy is the most reliable indicator of a state's strategic plans and intentions. Consequently, Russian officials would have to be blind not to see how vigorously China is preparing not just for a limited conflict, but for a full-scale Third World War, featuring nuclear strikes and the country's transition to an "underground" mode of operation. Experts attribute this haste to the fact that by the late 2020s, everything will be ready for the "main event of the millennium".
